Bringing Retail AI to Life: Design, Storytelling & Creative Direction

The Project

My Role: Independent Contractor, Creative Director & Designer

  • In late 2024, Velou, a retail tech company using AI to power product discovery, was gearing up for a busy event season. To stand out in a crowded event’s hall, I was brought in as an independent contractor to creative direct and design a high-impact marketing video for their booth. The goal: grab attention fast and tee up conversations with sales reps.

  • Storytelling came first. In collaboration with Velou’s Head of Events & Partnerships, we crafted a talk track that highlighted the company’s key differentiator—being the market’s first “Product Catalog Agent.” Together we workshopped the messaging to make it clear, concise, and compelling.


    Once the narrative was in place, I began designing visual frames for the video. Using Velou’s brand guidelines I created a series of graphics and visuals for use in the video.

    To bring the design to life, I sourced and hired a freelance videographer. Under my creative direction and through numerous rounds of edits, he enhanced the video with motion graphics and music.

  • After three weeks of development and collaboration, the two minute marketing video was ready to be showcased in the Velou booth at a series of events. It was shown at three well-known retail conferences — NRF, eTail, and ShopTalk drawing crowds of 15K+ and influencing nearly 300 in-suite meetings with prospective clients.
