Navigating Challenges with Strategic Branding: Bluecore's Virtual Event Success
THE OPPORTUNITY
When COVID-19 hit, communities everywhere lost the opportunity to connect in person. At Bluecore, this meant cancelling all live events which historically yielded critical revenue for the business. In response, executives at Bluecore tasked the Director of Field Marketing and me, the Creative Director, with strategically developing, designing, and overseeing a virtual event series to actively engage with customers, influence revenue, and replace live events.
THE CHALLENGE
Many dark challenges of COVID were felt worldwide, and creating a virtual event series during an unprecedented time in modern history was not easy. In the event space, we struggled with identifying the best ways to engage with customers who could suddenly tune in to on-demand events from multiple vendors at any time of day. Common virtual event challenges included screen fatigue, lack of engagement, and high drop-off rates. Balancing accessibility with personalization required creative thinking to develop a solution that captured audience attention and drove engagement.
THE SOLUTION
Bluecore’s digital-first events strategy, The Bluecore Open, was developed and tested through a series of virtual event formats which engaged with other 200 customers and more than 250 prospects. The tent pole event of the Bluecore Open was a 25 minute on-demand vision keynote called “Beyond Transactional Commerce” that featured the CEO and SVP of Product from Bluecore and the SVP of Performance Marketing + Digital from Lane Bryant.
THE OUTCOME
The live broadcast of “Beyond Transactional Commerce” drew 200+ registrations, had a 62% attendance rate, created 15 sales ready lead contacts, and influenced over $100K in new business.
The Bluecore Open won silver in the Events branding category at the Indigo Design Awards in 2021. This recognition underscored the excellence in design and creativity employed to make the virtual event series not only effective but also visually impactful.
